Where the gap comes from

Human buyers and AI agents evaluate vendors using fundamentally different criteria. Understanding the difference is the first step to closing the gap.

What human buyers weight:

These are not variations of the same criteria. They are entirely different evaluation frameworks. A product built and marketed entirely for human evaluation — which describes most enterprise products — will score well with humans and poorly with agents.

The five dimensions of the gap

Dimension 1 — Machine Readability Average enterprise product: 15/100 before X!MCO

Most B2B product pages are written for human comprehension, not machine parsing. Without schema markup and structured data fields, AI agents cannot extract the basic product attributes they need to evaluate a vendor. The product effectively does not exist in machine-readable form.

Dimension 2 — Index Presence Average enterprise product: 22/100 before X!MCO

Most enterprise products exist in a small number of indexed sources — their own website, maybe a LinkedIn page, occasionally a Crunchbase profile. AI agents draw from dozens of indexed sources. Inconsistent presence and inconsistent naming across those sources creates a low-trust signal that deprioritizes the vendor.

Dimension 3 — Trust Signal Architecture Average enterprise product: 18/100 before X!MCO

Human trust signals — brand design, testimonials, case study narratives — have almost no weight with AI agents. Machine trust signals — named and verifiable founders, third-party citations in indexed sources, consistent contact data, verifiable client relationships — carry enormous weight. Most enterprise products are built for the former, not the latter.

AI agents match vendor content against procurement queries. Most enterprise product content is structured as a narrative — telling a story rather than answering structured questions. The content doesn’t match the query format agents use, so the product doesn’t qualify even when the underlying capability is exactly what the agent is looking for.
